What is a Watch Child?

Butler Memorial Hospital has recently installed state of the art monitoring equipment for our birthing suite. An entirely new fetal monitoring system has been installed that allows central monitoring of women in labor at the nurses station. It also offers and alarm system that will allow nurses in other ares of the birthing suite to detect any abnormality that is occurring with the baby's heart rate during labor.

This technology also allows your labor pattern and baby's heart rate to be monitored in the physician's office as well as in our homes. Each of the physicians in our practice as well as Susan, our midwife, have this technology in their home in it is needed for an emergency. If you are an obstetric patient in our practice and would like to see how this technology works, please feel free to ask us during one of your visits, or during a tour of the birthing facility. Our practice would specifically like to thank the Administration of Butler Memorial Hospital as well as the BMH Auxiliary for purchasing this state of the art equipment for our community.
