I have been told I have a "tipped uterus". Is this a problem?

Most women (approximately 70%) have a uterus that tips forward toward the bladder which is normal. Some women have a uterus that tips backward toward the rectum instead. This is rarely a problem, but some women can experience pain during sex and menstruation if their uterus tips backward. It is not enough to be a cause of infertility, nor does it have any affect on a healthy pregnancy. It is diagnosed by a simple internal exam, but it usually does not require any treatment. Ask your healthcare provider at your next yearly exam if you have any symptoms or concerns about this.
