Can a D.O. provide all of my OB/GYN care?
A D.O. is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Not unlike M.D.’s, Osteopathic physicians graduate from medical school, complete various residency programs, and often become Board-Certified. D.O.’s practice medicine ranging from Family Practice, Emergency Med, and OB/GYN to sub-specialties including Gynecologic Oncology, Perinatology, Infertility and much more. D.O.’s are able to perform Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) similar to Chiropractic adjustments. Therefore, D.O.’s are able to address all OB/GYN concerns, plus offer OMT for pregnancy problems such as sciatica and low back pain.
